Television
HGTV's Sensible Chic, (featured
inspiration room) for "Tranquil Bedroom", October 31 & November 1, 2003:
"...a striking designer style... more than just a bedroom: it's almost like a
work of art...,
"...a tranquil and absolutely unique bedroom, filled with luxurious fabrics
and unique works of art...,
"...extraordinary style...,
"the angels were a true vision of artistic style..." -Brooke Channon, host, "Sensible Chic".
"I'm really impressed with [Elizabeth's] "inspiration room"- it's something
new..." -Kim Tran, homeowner of "makeover room", "Sensible
Chic".
"[Elizabeth's room] is so fresh, and it takes risks, and that's what a
designer should do- I always say a designer should set the trends and
not follow them- and that's what's happening here. It's great!" -Stuart Piontek, interior designer, guest
designer/judge, "Sensible Chic".
Magazines
San Francisco magazine, November,
'03, p. 112, (photo and write-up), for a teenage girl's bedroom:
"Elizabeth Brownrigg designed this sleek, funky
bedroom to express a teenage girl's unbridled independence. Brownrigg, an
artist and former set designer, painted the whimsical mask that hangs above
the large platform bed which is dressed with a brilliantly-colored custom
bedspread. The leather shag rug adds texture and a sense of fun. The
innovative custom-made window treatment, painted wooden panels covered with
sheer fabric that slide over a woven metal curtain, allows for either full
light, filtered light, or complete privacy." -Kimberly Olson, "Extreme Design Makeover".
California Home and Design, March, '03, p. 72, (photo), for a guest
bedroom.
Press
San Francisco Chronicle,
September 17, '03, "Home & Garden", (write-up) for a teenage girl's bedroom:
"Designer Elizabeth Brownrigg borrowed the pungent colors of India and blew
them up Cali style with fun touches. Sliding panels upholstered in sheer
fabric cloak a woven metal curtain, serving as a hip alternative to mom's
traditional window treatments. Other touches include an LCD television, a
leather shag area rug..., a plaid bed cover and matching pillows covered in
fuchsia, red and violet-toned silks, satins and poly-sheer fabrics. The room
to be sure is designed for the mature, aesthetically savvy high schooler
who'll have nothing to do with teen magazine centerfolds tacked up on her
wall. No problem, Brownrigg painted several large, abstract paintings for the
room..." -Angelica Pence, "Grand spaces, good ideas".
Marin Independent Journal,
September 13 & 20, '03 "Home & Garden", (photo and write-up), for a teenage
girl's bedroom:
"For sheer fun, [Elizabeth's] teen
girl's bedroom is a delight. Bright yellow walls and shocking pink pillows on
a bright silk plaid bed covering take center stage, along with a tousled rag
shag." -P.J. Bremier, "Fine Living".
Contra Costa Times, September 27,
'03, (photo and write-up), for a teenage girl's bedroom:
"...Sausalito designer Elizabeth
Brownrigg used bold colors and feminine fabrics to make this room rock. A
purple platform bed is dressed with a bright plaid moire duvet cover and
brightly colored pillows wrapped in an embroidered sheer fabric. The same
fabric covers boldly striped sliding panels that function as the window
coverings in the room. A leather shag rug and purple Ultrasuede chair add a
luxe touch to the youthful design." -Kathryn Loosli Pritchett, "Showcase".
Contra Costa Times,
September 24, '02, (write-up), for a guest bedroom:
"...A particularly memorable Asian-influenced room is the guest
bedroom by Sausalito designer... Elizabeth Brownrigg. The room is dominated by
a giant Buddha silhouette in a canvas and plywood screen that covers the
sliding doors leading out to the patio. Wall panels adorned with small silver
angels line one wall and bamboo rods flank the opposite wall. A simple
platform bed rests in the center of the room just beyond a metal mesh curtain.
Combined, these elements make a restful, meditative space." -Kathryn Loosli Pritchett, "Subtle Charms".
Mill Valley Herald & Tiburon/Belvedere
Ebbtide, October 1-7, '03 (write-up), for a guest bedroom:
"A room that particularly fascinated
me was a downstairs bedroom, walls lined with tall bamboo branches, a dark bed
on the floor, a transparent mesh metal drape in front of the bed -and- a huge
window panel with a silhouette of a crossed-legged man meditation! I wanted to
lie down and seek Nirvana! Check it out." -Win Murphy, "Marin Designers Showcase a
spectacular event".
