Carolyn Zaroff is a California nature painter whose work reflects her passion for color and interest in contrasting forms and textures. A former writer, she grew up in Washington, D.C., graduated from George Washington University, and went to work in Upstate New York and Aspen, Colorado, writing for magazines, universities and advertising agencies.
Since moving to California in 1995, she has painted full time, discovering her talent in oils, which allow her to indulge her desire for thick texture and saturated light. She has studied with the renowned Bay Area and Sacramento Delta painter Ning Hou.
Her color–intense landscapes and still–life's are now enjoyed in private collections on the East and West Coasts and throughout the Bay Area. In 2000 she was selected to receive an Artist at Work grant rom the Bootstrap Foundation of Palo Alto, California. In 2003 her work was included in the book, ART of Northern California, published Alcove Press.
