The Stockton Open Studios offers self-guided tours of
Stockton Artists studios not regularly open to the public. It showcases art in a
broad range of media and styles and fosters a greater understanding of the
artistic process and provides the public with a unique opportunity to enter the
world of the visual artist and experience how, why and where art is created.
Open Studios offers visitors opportunities to see and purchase a wider range of
original work by individual artists than at any other venue.
The visual arts are an important part of the art and cultural life of any
community and are even more so in Stockton as it is experiencing an economic and
quality of life renaissance.
Examples of the art to be seen on the tour may be viewed at the Student Gallery
at Pacific (on Mendocino Ave between Pershing and Kensington) beginning on
September 18 through October 13. Purchase your ticket and go to the gallery and
decide which studios you wish to visit. Map out your studio tour and plan for a
fruitful weekend of studio touring. Attend the reception on September 23 and
meet the artists who will have their studios open on October 14 and 15. The
reception hours are 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
Tickets are $20.00 each and are available at the following locations: Stockton
Arts Commission office at 6 East Lindsay St., Tidewater Art Gallery, Elsie Mae
Goodwin Gallery, etc., Frame Works, and other locations.
