Kay Carlson - California Landscape Colorist - Art Workshops and Classes by KAY CARLSON

I have been teaching Painting Classes for Tamalpais Community Education in Mill Valley since 1992. Expressive Watercolor is lively and popular with hands- on demonstrations.

I also offer Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain which presents a doorway to new perception by following the book that we all have on the shelf.  These classes are held for four semesters each year, six weeks at a time. I have a clear communication style and offer solid support for beginning and intermediate students.

From the Carlson Art Gallery in Sausalito  I accept private students, or small groups, and I teach  oil and watercolor painting on location.  Experience the splendor of plein air painting as we work with seeing luminous color on the landscape. The challenge is to mix this on a pallate, and then create a composition. You will learn how to capture the feeling of light and atmosphere in expressing your own vision. Tailor learning to your own pace. We will find fantastic locations to visit!

I also offer continuing private lessons to my watercolor students, many who have studied with me over the years at Tamalpais Ed.

Call Carlson Studios 415-331-9520 for dates and times.

What you can look forward to in my Wearable Art Jewelry Classes

Hetty Herman-Minsk -

I teach the art of jewelry making using Precious Metal Clay. It is my goal as an instructor of silver jewelry to help you unlock the wonderful mysteries of creativity, and to assist you building confidence, skill and respect for your own creative process and abilities.

Private and semi-private lessons are in my studio. Workshops are taught in community locations. Most classes are a series of 3 sessions. Each lesson builds on the skills of the one before Handouts explain the step by step processes of basic construction.
Classes are designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced students.

Below is the description of a typical beginning student series

Session One: introduces Precious Metal Clay and basic techniques for creating pendants, earrings and buttons.
Session Two: works on more advanced forms.
Session Three: focuses on finishing and traditional silversmithing techniques.

Color & Texture in Abstract Painting

Using Golden acrylic paints, collaged papers, and a variety of texture mediums, participants will learn different approaches to painting abstracts. Without subject-matter on which to focus, abstraction requires a strong understanding of composition related to color, texture, shape, and line. The work of well-known abstract painters will act as inspiration. Daily demonstrations and lots of hands-on practice. Some prior painting experience helpful. Sample paints provided by Golden.

Jeff Leedy - Mendocino Artist - Humorous Whimsical Fantasy Art

CLASS #1

SP06FA416
May 5 - 7, 2006
"THE DRAWING WORKSHOP FOR PAINTERS"
Jeff Leedy: instructor

Class begins May 5th. Three day workshop? Friday through Sunday.?
Tuition: $225.?

If you love to paint but know inside that your drawing ability is holding you back, then this workshop is for you.?
If you have a good sense of color but your compositions seem flat, then this is for you.?
If your paintings don?t have the drama or zing you want, then this is for you.?

We will focus on composition, the dynamic quality of light and shade, and the freedom of gestural drawing. A working knowledge of perspective would be helpful, but don?t let that stop you. ?I?ll teach you how to have a successful painting by first showing you how to make it a great drawing.??
You will improve. You won?t be asked to do large ceilings, but you will improve.

And if you'd like to learn how to use oil pastels in a very fun class, again take a vacation to the Mendocino Coast. This time, a week.

CLASS #2

SU06FA404
June 26 - 30, 2006
"I NEVER KNEW OIL PASTELS WERE SO EASY"
Jeff Leedy: instructor?

Monday, June 26th. Five day workshop? Tuition: $305.?

No, we?re not talking Craypas. Remember, it was Picasso who persuaded Mssr. Sennellier to develop such a medium, something that would work on almost any surface. Many masters used oil pastel for quick sketches to work out their visions. Oil pastel, for me, beats soft pastel because we can draw and/or paint with it.?

Yes, we?ll use brushes. We?ll work on toned paper, board and canvas and use fixative. I use a lot of humor to keep things light and simple so you?ll come away having had fun and liking what oil pastel can do. Very few artists use oil pastel and I?ve always wondered why since it is such a delight to work with. I think you?ll find the same. All levels welcome.
